Two questions decide a costume order, and neither of them is what it looks like.

Why we exist

This is a category sold on a drawing and judged on an afternoon in the sun.

A head with no airflow path becomes unwearable in twenty minutes. A sightline placed at the character’s eye level rather than the performer’s means somebody walks into a child. A head hung off the neck instead of the shoulders ends an appearance early. An inflatable sold for an exposed pitch is unmanageable in the first breeze. And a stage costume described as fire retardant with no standard named will not be accepted by a venue. We specify around all five, because those are the failures, and none of them are visible in a concept drawing.

What we actually make

Original mascot characters with powered ventilation routed to the head, a designed sightline and a stated maximum wear time. Costume heads and masks with a padded harness that puts the weight on the shoulders, supplied with a stand. Fan-powered inflatables with the run time quoted and spare batteries in the box. Theatrical and pantomime costume in inherently flame-retardant fabric with the certificate. Period costume researched from a stated source and built to be worn for a full working day. And matched parade sets, dye-lot matched across the run and bagged per person.

Everything is labelled and packed so the person handing it out does not need to have been the person who ordered it.

The line we will not cross

We will not make a costume of a character somebody else owns. That includes film, television, game and comic characters, other clubs’ mascots, and costume designs that are somebody’s intellectual property.

This is not us being difficult. A costume like that cannot be used commercially, cannot be photographed for your channels, and puts the risk on you rather than on us. We would rather lose the enquiry.

What we will do is design you an original character, free, that does the same job and belongs to you. Most people who arrive asking for a copy leave happier with the original.

How we price

No dollar figures on this site. Price moves with construction, ventilation, materials, certification and quantity. Send the brief and a real quote comes back the same day, with a lowest-price guarantee if you are already holding a cheaper one.

On performers

Tell us the height range of the people who will wear it and how long an appearance lasts. Those two answers change the build more than the character design does.

We send handover notes with wear time, rota and escort guidance, because a mascot alone in a crowd cannot see well enough to look after itself.
